Directions

This dish of asparagus fried in a frying pan with butter, garlic and chili is both a wonderful addition to the main dish and can serve as an independent dish. Asparagus boasts a rich array of nutrients, including vitamins A, C, and K, as well as folate and potassium, promoting overall health and vitality.

Steps

Done

preparation

1. Prepare the Asparagus:
- Rinse the asparagus under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- Trim off the tough ends of the asparagus spears. Snap off the woody ends by bending the spears near the bottom.

2. Place a frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
Once the pan is hot, add the olive oil and butter. Let the butter melt and swirl it around the pan to coat the surface evenly.
3. Add the minced garlic and sliced chili pepper to the pan.
4. Sauté for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
5. Carefully add the trimmed asparagus spears to the pan in a single layer. Arrange them so they're not overlapping.
6. Sprinkle black pepper and salt over the asparagus according to your taste preference.
7. Cook the asparagus for about 5-7 minutes, depending on the thickness of the spears, stirring occasionally. The asparagus should become bright green and slightly tender, but still crisp.
8. Pierce the thickest part of the asparagus with a fork to check for doneness. It should be tender but still have a slight bite to it. Adjust cooking time if necessary.
9. Transfer the cooked asparagus to a serving platter or individual plates. Serve hot as a side dish or as a part of your main meal.

If desired, you can garnish the cooked asparagus with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese or a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.
Enjoy your delicious pan-seared asparagus with garlic and chili!
