Here are a few life hacks for making mashed potatoes:

  1. Start with the right potatoes: use starchy potatoes like Russets or Yukon Golds for the creamiest texture. They absorb butter and milk well, resulting in fluffy mashed potatoes.
  2. Boil potatoes whole: to prevent waterlogged potatoes, boil them whole.
  3. Use warm ingredients: warm the butter and milk before adding them to the mashed potatoes. Cold ingredients can cool down the potatoes and affect their texture.
  4. Mash by hand: use a potato masher instead of a blender or food processor. Mashing by hand gives you better control over the texture, ensuring they’re not overworked and gluey.

These hacks will help you achieve delicious, creamy mashed potatoes every time, perfect for any meal or occasion!

preparation

1. Wash and peel the potatoes.
2. Place the potatoes in a saucepan, fill with clean water so that the potatoes are completely covered with water, add salt and cook the potatoes until tender.
3. Check the readiness of the potatoes with a knife or fork; if the potatoes are easily pierced with a knife, then they are ready.
4. Drain the water from the potatoes, add preheated milk, add butter.
5. Mash the potatoes manually with a special tool or a whisk (do not use a blender! When using a blender, the potatoes will not turn out airy, but like a sticky mass), so that there are no lumps left and you get a homogeneous puree.
6. Taste for salt, if not enough, add salt.
7. Place mashed potatoes on serving plates and garnish with finely chopped dill.

Enjoy fluffy and creamy mashed potatoes.
