Ingredients

Directions

Breaded onion rings are a classic American snack that perfectly combines crunch and flavor. Made from thick slices of sweet onions, these rings are coated in a seasoned breadcrumb mixture and deep-fried until golden brown. The result is a crispy exterior that gives way to a tender, juicy onion inside. Whether served as a side dish, appetizer, or game-day snack, onion rings are often paired with zesty dipping sauces like ranch or spicy ketchup, making them an irresistible treat for all ages. Their delightful crunch and savory taste make them a staple at diners and casual eateries alike!

Preparation

1. In a deep bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and ground pepper. Mix until smooth.
2. Break the egg into a separate container. Add 1 tbsp. spoon of water, stir with a fork until smooth.
3. Prepare the batter for the onion rings: pour the egg mixture into a bowl with flour. While stirring, gradually add the remaining water (adjust the amount of water).
4. Peel the onion and cut into slices 7-8 mm thick. We separate the onion slices into rings.
5. Dip each onion ring into the batter we previously prepared, then immediately roll in breadcrumbs.
6. Heat the oil for deep frying; it should not be too hot so that the onion has time to fry inside.
7. Place battered and breaded onion rings in boiling oil.
8. Over medium-low heat, fry the onion rings in batter for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
9. Place the finished onion rings on a paper towel; when the excess oil is absorbed into the paper towel, place the onion rings on a serving dish.

This dish is best served hot and with sauce. Bon appetit!
