Ingredients

Directions

Basil-ginger lemonade is a wonderful refreshing and piquant drink that quenches thirst well on hot summer days.

If you prefer a less sweet drink, you can reduce the amount of ginger syrup or dilute with more soda water. For extra zing, add a splash of lime juice.

preparation

1. In a pitcher, muddle the basil leaves gently to release their flavor. You can use a mortar or the back of a spoon.
2. Add the fresh lemon juice and orange juice to the pitcher with the muddled basil.
3. Stir in the ginger syrup. Adjust the sweetness to taste if needed, depending on how strong or mild your ginger syrup is.
4. Grate fresh ginger directly into the pitcher. This will give your lemonade an extra kick of ginger flavor.
5. Add ice cubes to the pitcher and stir well to chill the mixture.
6. Just before serving strain the lemonade, top off the pitcher with chilled soda water to your taste preference. Stir gently to combine.

Serve:
Pour the basil-ginger lemonade into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with a basil leaf or a slice of lemon if desired.

Enjoy your refreshing basil-ginger lemonade!
